Back home, the mouth-watering flavours and aromas of traditional Peruvian cooking was forbidden in Pepa’s home, except when Grandma would sneak in a steak and some spices. In London, Pepa embarked on a journey inside herself. She discovered that food could be shared with a new family around a new table, and you are invited to taste it!

Eating Myself received an Off Commendation Award and has been supported by Arts Council England. Its UK tour was well-received by critics and audiences of all generations.
Women from all generations who are now starting to challenge patriarchy, exploring their experiences of sexism, dieting culture, and gender societal norms. Audiences who are looking to explore their relationship with food. Food lovers and anyone who is part of a culture or family that gives importance to food. Anyone who has an interest in how our love for food intersects with our mental health, both negatively and positively. Our audiences have often left the theatre craving their family food and wanting to call their relatives.

Pepa Duarte is a Peruvian actor, theatre maker, and drama teacher. Specializing in physical theatre and improvisation, Pepa’s work combines various theatrical techniques to challenge and engage her audiences. After graduating from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), she has primarily focused on creating work in London.
In her scriptwriting and collaborative creations, Pepa demonstrates a deep understanding of and passion for text and movement. Her training spans a wide range of disciplines, including acting, playwriting, comedy, physical theatre, yoga, contemporary dance, and vocal performance. Pepa’s work consistently pushes boundaries, creating unique, immersive, and thought-provoking theatre. Combining narrative, movement, comedy, and sound, her performances often explore themes such as identity, migration, feminism, and belonging, offering audiences a compelling and reflective experience.
Pepa’s debut solo show, Eating Myself, received an OFF Commendation Award and was commissioned by Battersea Arts Centre in London, with additional support from organizations such as the CASA Latin American Theatre Festival.
